the BEET IT challenge

Challenge the Commercial Director

A hardy team from Bluefin Solutions in Chiswick is having a beetroot-themed day to boost their fund-raising efforts.

They're reaising money for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Unit at University College London Hospital, where one of their consultants, Ian Curtis, sadly passed away late last year. So far, they've organised a charity running / cycling challenge from London to Land's End and a charity auction over Christmas. They have a variety of other events planned this year, and the next one is "Challenge the Commercial Director", a day of various min-challenges with a beetroot theme - a splendid idea!

You can support the guys by donating at www.justgiving.com/rememberingian. Good luck to them!

Richard Weremiuk

BEET IT at Altitude

250km at probably the world's highest race

Richard Weremiuk is relying on BEET stamina shots for his 250km race at the end of November - RacingThePlanet Nepal. He will be running a marathon every day, each of which includes at least a mile of ascent. The fiftth day involves running around 47 miles through the day and night up the terraced mountains and across narrow suspension bridges.

Richard and his team will be running and sleeping at altitudes up to 3200m. One of the reasons Richard has requested BEET IT is due to the advice of an altitude expert at the Altitude Centre where he trains. Recent studies done on Everest this year (yet to be published) seem to support the current thinking that beetroot acts as a good nitrate and may have benefits for altitude too.

Just getting to the start line of one of these races is demanding enough, and finishing one is incredibly tough... Stay tuned for Richard's updates.

James Thomas and Adrian Redfern

The Really Big Bike Ride

The humble bicycle puts BEET IT to the test over 6000km, 100 days and 20 countries

BEET IT is currently accompanying James Thomas and Adrian Redfern on their incredible trans-continental expedition. Their 6000+ kilometre journey will take them through at least 20 nations, negotiating many of the toughest mountain ranges Europe has to offer along the way. They intend to achieve this in less than 100 days with no support; the only means of over land transport they are using is the humble bicycle. Everything they need for survival they will be carrying themselves and have requested the help of BEET IT stamina shots to fuel their mission.

Their goal is to highlight the importance of the bicycle as a means to improve lives. Whether you are lucky enough to live in the developed world or you live in one of the poorest nations, the bicycle has the power to change lives for the better. Anyone can improve their fitness and well-being by choosing to cycle and in Africa a bicycle can empower people, giving them access to basic necessities that most of us take for granted. That's why they are getting behind Re~Cycle and Back2Bikes!

Stay tuned to find out if BEET IT, James and Adrian can rise to the challenge

Follow their journey on the Really Big Bike Ride website, where you can find out more and add a donation.
