Jamal-Marcus Rhoden-Stevens is a Team GB 400m Sprinter, aiming to compete in the 2019 World Championships and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Outside of sports, Jamal-Marcus studies Bio Chemistry at Kingston University.

How did you get involved in 400m sprinting?

When I started athletics in 2013 my coach forced me to do a 400m race, at that point I was not training for it but I thought it would be a good event for me because of my fitness and build.

Growing up, who was your all-time inspirational sports person?

I would say Muhammad Ali.

What advice would you give to a young, aspiring sprinter?

Patience is key and always try to enjoy the sport. Also have good goals to aim for       

Best sprinting achievement so far?

Running in the World Indoor championships 4 x 400m final race where a world record was ran.

What are your aspirations in sprinting for 2018 and beyond?

To keep running personal bests and to compete in the 2019 world championships. I would like to make the 2020 Olympic team also.

What motivates you to keep working on improving your performance?

The fact that I can be the best version of me.

What interests do you have outside of 400m sprinting?

I love boxing and I have a genuine interest for nutrition. 

How important is nutrition in training for 400m sprinting?

Very important it can help recovery and it can improve aerobic performance.

On the internet but mostly in the shops.
