How did you first become interested in swimming?

I participated in a school swimming gala and one of the PE teachers suggested I joined a swimming club.

What is your greatest sporting achievement so far? 

Representing Great Britain at a junior international level

What are your plans and ambitions for the rest of this year and beyond?

I have Nationals at the end of this month which is my last meet of the season so the plan is to perform at my best there. Longer term I want to represent Great Britain at a senior international level.

Who was your biggest sporting inspiration growing up?  

Rebecca Adlington was always someone I looked up to!

What’s the best thing about competing in swimming?

There are lots of things I like about competing in swimming but I especially enjoy the competitive environment at competitions but also supporting my friends and teammates achieve their goals.

What motivates you to train and perform at your best?

I like proving to myself that I can push through when its tough and seeing what I’m truly capable of. Whilst there are major milestones that I strive towards, there are other goals I set for myself within each training session or race which I try to achieve. So even if I don’t achieve the outcome I wanted overall, I can still look back and reflect on whether I achieved those smaller goals. This allows me to still achieve that feeling of progression whilst working towards the larger goals.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue swimming competitively? 

Enjoy the journey. Progress is never linear so even when you have setbacks along the way, you should still find joy in the process.

If you could be a professional athlete in any other sport, what would it be and why? 

I would be a tennis player because it’s a highly competitive atmosphere and has the opportunities to play in iconic tournaments like Wimbledon.

Describe your perfect weekend. 

Training 6-8am Saturday morning, having a nice long nap afterwards then fish and chips for dinner. Sunday would consist of a big lie-in, full English breakfast and just a full day of chill (and maybe some shopping).
